I BEGAN A CAREER IN THE SYDNEY ART WORLD IN THE SEVENTIES AS

CREATIVE EMBROIDERED TEXTILES WERE BEGINNING TO BE SEEN AS

A LEGITIMATE ART FORM  WITHIN THE WOMEN’S ART MOVEMENT.

I SOLD WORK FROM THE EMBROIDERER’S GUILD OF N.S.W. AND MY SOLO

EXHIBITION AT THE BURTON STREET GALLERY DARLINGHURST.

COMMISSIONS TO ‘CRAFT’ SEVERAL NEW TRADE UNION BANNERS &

A DECADE OF FACILITATING COMMUNITY ART PROJECTS IN WESTERN

SYDNEY FOLLOWED AND I WAS EMPLOYED TO PRODUCE A SERIES OF

BANNERS USING MIXED MEDIA WITH RESIDENTS ON CHOSEN THEMES.

ISSUES SUCH AS MULTICULTURALISM, THE LOCAL ENVIRONMENT AND

CELEBRATING CULTURE AND COMMUNITY ATTRACTED GOVERNMENT

FUNDING FOR ORDINARY PEOPLE TO CREATE EXTRAORDINARY ART AND

SHARE IT TOGETHER AS BOTH A PROCESS AND A PUBLIC ART PRODUCT.

I CONTINUED TO DEVELOP MY OWN WORK  ADOPTING ROUTINELY THE

PRACTICE OF PHOTO-DOCUMENTATION WHICH LEAD ON TO VIDEO

DOCUMENTARIES WHICH STILL TAKE UP MUCH OF MY CURRENT ART LIFE.

CELEBRATING OVER A DECADE OF LIVING AND WORKING IN THIS VERY

SPECIAL PLACE THIS SITE IS DEDICATED TO THE SPIRIT OF THIS COUNTRY

WHICH CONTINUES TO AMAZE AND INSPIRE.
